Bad Company 2 Hacked To Death

Journal Entry: Sun Mar 21, 2010, 12:07 PM

I've pretty much sworn off multiplayer games because of the widespread hacking. They are all compromised, doesn't matter if you're on a PC or console and the problem is 1,000 times worse than anyone wants to admit. So I stick to single player campaigns now, which I intended to do with Bad Company 2. But I was bored and made the mistake of playing BC 2 multiplayer. OMFG.

This has to be the most hacked game in Xbox Live history. It makes MW 2 looks like a Sunday school picnic. It's so blatant and totally out of control. I'm saying most of the people playing are hacking, not just some. Truly unbelievable. In  48 hours of play I've watched people disappear right in front of me, tanks disappear and reappear in a different locations while under fire, players who constantly spawn in behind other players in non-spawn locations and the standard endless parade of aimbots, wall hacks, charms, ESP hacks, speed hacks, health hacks, etc...

But last night I witnessed the most unbelievable hack ever. I still can't believe it. I'm hiding in a bush near the edge of a small cliff. I was there for a bit so nobody knew I was there. Then this guy literally just appears directly in front of me. Like magic... poof, he's a wizard. About a foot away with his back to me. I waited a second to see if anyone else was there and then I tried to knife him. Before the knife could hit him (about a half second) he disappeared. Again.... poof. Then as the knife is passing through air where he was, I see him reappear on a road directly below me, now facing me with gun raised and shooting... as he appeared. It was instantaneous. It happened so fast I was dead before the knife animation finished. I sat there with my jaw hanging open then turned off the game and went to bed. Tomorrow the game goes back to Game Stop. If I had the energy I'd fight EA for a full refund, but I don't. BTW... This clown's XBL gamer tag is About19Snipers. If you have have misfortune of ending up in any on-line matches with him, file a complaint against him.

This is the reason why so many people want nothing to do with multiplayer. The hackers are ready to cheat the day a game releases. The gaming industry along with Microsoft and Sony seem powerless to stop them so they instead downplay the problem and deny that it's serious.

For anyone who's interested, here's the evidence that BC 2 is hacked to hell. All of this is easily found with a Google search, something EA, Activision and Microsoft seem incapable of doing. Here's two sites selling the hacks: www.fpscheats.com/topic76771.h… www.artificialaiming.net/forum… and here are videos of their hacks and others like them in action: www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQxjOx… www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rqTwD… www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9mQlm…

We've caught/banned 600+ hackers in one month.

600 in one month just validates my argument that hacking is much more widespread and common than the developers want to publicly admit. They know if they acknowledged how bad it really is, it would hurt sales. It's a big problem for everyone. I've given up on public multiplayer until they come up with better security systems.

Console games are hacked to death. PC isn't immune, but at least it has a system in place to try to defend. I play BC2 PC, and my clan has a server. In one week or streaming to 2 or 3 PunkBuster sites? We caught, banned, and reported over 75 hackers.

You've caught and banned hackers... which officially makes you my hero  I wish the developers would get over the denial about console hacking and do something about it. Beside PR spin that the problem isn't widespread. But applause for fighting the good fight!!!!!

So this is why you didn't want to play BC2 multiplayer... I see now. :/

I've pretty much stopped playing myself. I LOVED Modern Warfare 2 online, but finally had my fill the other day.

Get this, one guy, I don't know how he did it but he had 42 kills and 0 kills. A minute more and my team would have won despite all the call ins the guy did like AC130, choppers etc. We held the control points DESPITE being constantly pummeled. I was actually very proud of my team. But like I said, we were like a minute away from wining when all of a sudden we get nuked.

I understand some people got skill, but 42 kills and 0 deaths? Sorry, but I've seen it way too often.

Same with BC2, I loved the first on the xbox, so I picked up the second one for the PC. But nope, I can tell people are using aimbots deluxe on there.

Screw it. I'm pretty much just going to screw playing online. I've just bought a few WWII games, EBGames had a decent sale here, picked up Silent Hunters for cheap. :D

Tomorrow I'm going to pick up the Dragon Age expansion pack, hopefully that will keep me busy for a few days.

And there's not a chance in hell 42 - 0 in any multiplayer game is legit. If it was XBL, I'd have just filed my complaints for cheating, system tampering and feedback tampering and left the match. BTW - If you are playing on PC, you can check or join the Punk Buster user site: [link] Punk Buster is the software most developers are using prevent or catch hackers. They actually list the user tags of people who are caught hacking, which is awesome!

But what really cracks me up about multiplayer fans is the majority refuse to admit hacking is a problem. They're rather believe it's skill or "map knowledge". Yeah.... right. So when a low level player nails you with a head shot across the entire map, while you're in cover, using iron sites while he's sprinting... it's simply "crazy map knowledge" :lmao: Or my personal fav... they lob a grenade across a huge map, over buildings and trees.... and it lands directly at your feet. Has to be skill, even though the physics of the game don't allow it... Ignorance really is bliss.

I play now through STEAM so it uses VAC (Valve Anti Cheating). It usually works, but I guess they haven't figured out how to detect the cheats currently used.

But before, I'd ONLY game on PunkBuster enabled servers.

But the online version of CoD:MW2 has a lot of "low players". By that I mean they don't have any skills and just rely on cheats/camping/glitchers/using low classes like knifers/tubing etc.

Worst thing I know is a guy using that unlimited sprint and uav jammer running around knifing people in close quarters. There's basically NO WAY to take him down. Then you got the campers who'll find one spot and just stick with it. Worst of all is tubers. Man they piss me off. They'll use the M16 with grenade launcher and then the grenade launcher and that's ALL they'll use. Be it in CQB, spawn killing whatever.

I've just had my fill of ass holes online. I play legit and normally. Why can't others do the same?

I had the same experience in MW 2. People hated the juggernaut perk in MW 1 but many perks in MW 2 are 1,000 times worse (marathon, lightweight, commando). BC 2 has identical perks. I really think they added them because they've given up on stopping illegal hacking, so they tried added their own with hopes appease the hackers. Like that was going to work, never negotiate with terrorists!

BTW - Here's a story about hackers and karma  The other day, a kid was caught hacking Counterstrike in China and then stabbed in the head by one of the people he cheated! [link] I'll bet he never tries to hack again! So all hackers beware..... getting banned could be the least of your problems

Haha, that's going a bit overboard, but I certainly understand them! :D

Yeah, some people just REFUSE to show any sort of skill online and thus, resort to playing low or cheating.

Hackers aren't gamers. If they couldn't hack, 99% of them would never play a game. Multiplayer is just a anonymously way for them to act like douche bags, because that's what they enjoy. They're textbook sociopaths:

no sense of responsibility
inability to form meaningful relationships
inability to control impulses
lack of moral sense
chronically antisocial behavior
no change in behavior after punishment
emotional immaturity
lack of guilt
self-centeredness

Hackers are also bed-wetters and have teeny, tiny peckers! Well... I can't actually prove the pecker theory but everything else is fact

Haha lmfao man. I couldn't agree with your sentiments any stronger. Indeed hackers are bed wetters.

Meh, roll with it. make the hack part of the game, the hacks are superpowers!

I hear you. That sucks. Xbox live co-op games are still cool.

I'll stick to Warcraft until Starcraft 2 comes out.

The developers definitely aren't helping matters. With every new multiplayer game released they keep blurring the line between legal perks and illegal hacks. MW 2 did it and now Bad Company 2 has taken it to such an extreme that it's truly vile and nauseating. The perks give higher level players such huge unfair advantages, it's hard to tell who's cheating and who's not.

And yeah, I like co-op games too. But the last few I played didn't have public co-op, you could only play with people on your friends list. Doesn't work out too well at 2:30 am!

I can't believe the money people pay for the (Sub's) access to that stuff. I was looking at the videos but I don't get to much of what I was seeing. One I was watching & the scenes kept changing, is that the hack.

Thats so weird, its just a game but it still happens....

The thing to understand about multiplayer shooters is they're designed so it's hard to see who you're fighting. You typically don't see someone until they're close to you unless you're using a sniper rifle. In the video you'll see little colored tags above all the players he can see. That's the hack showing him everybody's location. If you play by the rules, there are no tags showing another players locations unless it's by design. That's a huge unfair advantage. Plus the weapons all have different levels of power and accuracy. Hacking allows them to see you without a scope, kill you at distances the weapon wasn't designed to, it automatically aims for them and in general makes it almost impossible to kill them.

Not exactly what you'd call a fair fight.

It's beyond frustrating and it also does little to help you develop trust for other people. Seems like everyone is a scammer or cheater.

Oh they are out there  I don't understand why it's easier for them to hack some games on different consoles. But they figure them all eventually. Unfortunately they figured out the PC and 360 on day 1.

Sadly it's just a matter of time. Seems like the only way around it is to organize a group of friends to play in private matches and stay out of the public games.
