Who Has Played Oblivion?

Journal Entry: Mon Nov 2, 2009, 12:28 PM

Anybody here ever play Oblivion? It's a total nerd game but I needed something to kill time until MW 2 comes out. Big mistake! I've now been playing it for 5 days and I'm not making a dent. I mean... 5 days and I only unlocked two achievements? WTF? I typically finish most games in 2 days or less.

It's so frigging complicated and there are absolutely no in-game instructions, directions or even hints. Nothing! I was making such little progress, I started constantly referring to the Wiki Oblivion guide. I usually don't look things up unless I'm really stuck. But now every time I find something new I have to pause, walk over to my computer and look it up what it is and what it does! F***! If it keeps going at this pace, it would take me months to finish the game.

Basically, the game starts you off with nothing and you have to earn or steal gold to buy magic, combat, stealth, charm, etc... skills to level up. Problem is... it prevents you from stealing or earning enough to buy what you need. I don't see how you can ever dig out of the hole the game starts you out in. You can get killed trying to do simple non-mission related things like exploring. WTF? So you have no choice but to save every minute. If you don't, you repeatedly lose all progress. I've already saved over 400 times and I've probably completed about 10% of the game! I know this is dungeons and dragons geek-dome, but come on!

Again, WTF? I can't believe a game like this ever won the "game of the year" award. P.O.S. of the year award is more appropriate!

I have the same feeling about this game as I did with Fallout 3 while I played it. This is a enormous piece of shit and I got ripped off. If I was smart, I'd trade it in or throw it away. But I won't give Bethesda Software or their a-hole hardcore fans the satisfaction. So I'll keep playing what's essentially a big wet bj from Bethesda for hardcore players until I beat their fucking game. It's like working a job you despise, I'll hate every second of it. Then exactly like I did with Fallout 3, literally the second I finish playing it I'm going to Gamestop to get rid of it.

Luckily I only paid $29 for this garbage, but that's still $28.99 more than it's worth.
Bethesda fooled me twice, so shame on me. But I'll never buy another game connected to this company.

Well I had until today to exchange it for something else. But if I return it before I finish it, they beat me. I just won't give them the satisfaction. I'll keep playing until I get MW 2 next week. Then the following week I'll have Assassins Creed 2. So Oblivion gets put it to the side for at least 2 months. But I'll finish the frigging thing eventually.

I got the game of the year edition which includes all the expansion packs. But it may take me a year to get to that point!

When you get into it, it's really cool -- there are places where you can download tons of extra content.

But I know what you mean -- the evil repetitiveness of how easy it is to die is a pain in the ass..
